At IFAT in Munich, BIRCO presented the innovative RAINMESH rainwater management system alongside its rainwater gutters. In view of the increasing number of extreme weather events, RAINMESH offers a sustainable solution for the efficient use of rainwater. The presentation was supported by the small brand store from Bruchsal and us. Together, we created a display sphere, various trade fair films and a new website.
The RAINMESH system
How RAINMESH works
RAINMESH combines hardware and software to control rainwater intelligently. Roof and traffic areas collect rainwater, which is stored in cisterns. Moisture sensors and weather data analyze water requirements and forecast precipitation. The system supplies consumers such as lawns and flower beds according to demand and availability.
Advantages and applications
RAINMESH aims to reduce water scarcity, especially in cities where sealed surfaces reach high temperatures. The system can be integrated into private households, sports facilities, agriculture and urban areas. The vision is a networked water grid that connects many cisterns to form a decentralized reservoir.
Future prospects
Controllable via smartphone, RAINMESH is currently available for iOS, with an Android version to follow. A prototype already exists in Baden-Baden and larger tests are planned. Managing Director Christian Merkel sees the digitalization of rainwater management as the next logical step for BIRCO.
With RAINMESH, BIRCO is setting new standards for the use of water as a valuable resource in the context of climate change.
